Instead of gifts, donations
Wirecard AG assumes commitment to donations platform betterplace.org
Munich/Grasbrunn, December 12, 2008, Instead of gifts, business customers of Wirecard AG will receive betterplace.org donation vouchers in their Christmas mail this year.
These vouchers can be redeemed on the profile page of the organization specifically set up on betterplace.org for the aid project of their choice under www.wirecard.betterplace.org.
Key locations of the Wirecard Group have taken on sponsorships for aid projects in the various regions: in Germany, donations are collected for the children’s hospice “Bärenherz” in Leipzig and the Munich-based aid project “Horizont”, which supports homeless children and mothers. In Austria, the institution “Clara Fey Kinderdorf”, which takes care of disabled children and youths, will receive donations this year. The organizers of the “Ability Awards” from Ireland are engaged on behalf of disabled people, and dona-tions are to be made to a primary school for 900 children in Daram (Philip-pines).
Donations from business partners, customers and employees of Wirecard AG are also most welcome outside the Christmas season. The betterplace foundation guarantees that all donations are transferred 100 percent to the selected projects.
“Social commitment is an integral element of our corporate culture”, says Dr. Markus Braun, CEO of Wirecard AG, adding “We found the concept behind the betterplace donations platform compelling right from the start”.
Till Behnke, General Manager of the organization “betterplace gemeinnüt-zige Stiftungs-GmbH: “By sending donation vouchers to its business cus-tomers, Wirecard will contribute toward making Christmas in 2008 a great deal merrier after all than had been anticipated.”

About betterplace.org:
betterplace.org is a transparent market place for social commitment and is operat-ed by the betterplace foundation headquartered in Berlin. betterplace.org connects people and enterprises that want to help with people and organizations that need help – across the globe. In doing so, betterplace.org combines the benefits of social networks with modern evaluation mechanisms and thus ensures radical transparency. Each donation is transferred 100 percent to each aid project selected. This is facilitated by a special form of funding: betterplace is initially supported by private sponsors, but increasingly also by enterprises that want to signal their social commitment via this platform, extending it to include their employees, business associates and customers as well. In return, the companies pay fees to the wholly owned subsidiary of the betterplace foundation, “betterplace Solutions GmbH”. It is important to know that all proceeds generated by the subsidiary GmbH (private limited company) always flow back to the foundation; in other words, betterplace has no intention of making any profits whatsoever.
