Wirecard AG steps up expansion

Wirecard Asia Pacific established

Munich/Grasbrunn, Manila, December 13, 2007: With immediate effect, the presence of Wirecard AG has been extended to include the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary in Asia. Wirecard Asia Pacific in Manila, Philippines has been stepped up to prepare for expansion in the Asian-Pacific market.

Markus Braun, CEO of Wirecard AG, explains: “The decisive factor was that we wanted to cooperate even more closely with our network of business partners on site.”

Wirecard AG already cooperates, as a Payment Service Provider (PSP), with one of the largest commercial banks in the Philippines. The numerous customers already acquired in the region include the information and communication technology provider ePLDT.

For Wirecard AG, the foundation of the subsidiary Wirecard Asia Pacific in the Philippines represents an ideal base for the Asian Pacific market.

“The sharply rise in the number of our transactions worldwide is being accompanied by the continual globalization of our products and services in the business-to-business segment. In Manila, we have now set up a base from which we can strategically reinforce our business with new customers in the Asian and Pacific target countries”, says Braun.
